TECHNICAL DRAWING

My experience with technical drawing has been an essential part of understanding the early stages of garment production. Technical drawing, or flat drawing, provides a clear, simplified representation of a garment’s front and back views, focusing on its shape, fit, and construction details. Unlike sketching, which is more artistic and expressive, or fashion illustration, which often exaggerates proportions, technical drawing emphasizes accuracy and precision. In my work, I’ve learned to incorporate key elements such as seams, pockets, buttons, zippers, and collars, as well as specific measurements, fabric types, colors, and stitching details. This process has helped me bridge the gap between design concepts and the practicalities of production, ensuring that every garment can be constructed as envisioned.
